After over 100 years of service to the property the existing lead roofs had served their time and replacement of the entire roof was required. Over 2 phases and nearly 4 years, C.E.L Ltd, working alongside principle contractor Historic Property Restoration replaced all of the lead sheet using new sand cast lead which was produced at its factories in Peterborough and Norwich.
Although the original lead had given good service the new leadwork was installed to the latest installation guidlines as detailed by the Lead Sheet Association. This new layout required close co-operation with HPR to ensure that the new timber substrates were designed to meet the new requirements and falls and steps in the roof accomodated the many chimneys and skylights in the roof without making dams or incorrect falls.
The works were inspected at the conclusion by the Lead Contractors Association and was awarded a grade of “Excellent”.
