The brief required the re-slating of the nave and chancel roofs and timber repairs to the front structure of the church.
Insufficient strength in the retaining walls required some dismantling and rebuilding. Failing structural stones, which had also weathered beyond repair or failed in their intended function, also needed replacing. Several years of weathering and exposure revealed the need for re-rendering and the correction of some poor design features. The replacement of some structural roof timbers was also required together with the re-slating of the roof in Welsh slate.
